Maria Elena Duran, 72, of Texhoma, Oklahoma went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 4, 2010. A Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M., Sunday, March 7, 2010, and Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Monday March 8, 2010 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford, Texas with Monsignor Arturo Meza officiating. Burial will be in Texhoma Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Elena was born in Pedernales Chihuahua, Mexico on July 17, 1937 to Guadalupe and Rita Camacho.
On January 27, 1960 she married her love, Enrique Duran in El Paso, Texas. They moved to the Texhoma area and together they raised their four children.
One of Lita’s greatest joys in life was her grandchildren. She seldom missed any activities that they were involved in. She loved to cook for her family and friends and took great pride in her flower gardens.
Elena was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratford.
Elena was met in heaven by her parents; brothers, Rene’ and Francisco and a sister Monce.
Survivors include her husband, Enrique; 2 sons, Enrique Duran Jr. and his wife Blanca, and David Duran; 2 daughters, Laura Duran and Barbara Limas and her husband Jesus, all of Texhoma; 3 brothers, Fernando, Riqoverto and Victor all of Mexico; grandchildren: Hernando and Enrique III Duran, Katherine, Coleman, Dakota and Cassie Harbour, Alfonso and Federico Limas; 2 great-grandsons; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.
