Albert "Al" LeRoy Baker   I am a Veteran.

Albert ''Al'' LeRoy Baker passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 87. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Stratford. Interment will follow in Stratford Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors.

Al was born on October 9, 1929 in Esbon, Kansas to Ray and Sarah Baker. He had 6 siblings. Al was a high school state champion in track, basketball, and football. He graduated from Esbon High School and began working for the Rock Island Railroad until retirement. On October 31, 1952 Al married the love of his life, Arlene. He was drafted to the United States Army during the Korean War. Al and Arlene moved to Stratford in 1958 where they raised their 4 children. Al quickly became a die-hard Stratford Elk football fan. He enjoyed camping, motorcycles, spending time with his family, and being Mr. Fix-It. He was living in Amarillo after being a resident of Stratford, Texas for 57 years.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Arlene Baker of Amarillo, Texas; son Ricky Baker and wife Elizabeth; son Rohnny Baker; daughter Brenda Stringer; and son Chris Baker and wife Cindy. Al had 9 grandchildren; Chelsea Olson and husband Aaron; Alyssa Dahl and husband Ole; Jordan Frasier and husband Stephen; Austin Hicks and wife Elizabeth; Nathan Baker and wife Trina; Madison Hicks; Aaron Baker; Clayton Baker and wife Alex; Cadey Baker; and 11 great-grandchildren.
