Rhonnie Jo Mayer

Rhonnie Jo Mayer, 76 of Dumas, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013. Funeral Services are scheduled for 3 o clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at First Christian Church with Rev Darrell Wait, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 68 o clock in the afternoon on Monday, December 16, 2013 at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.

Rhonnie was born on October 28, 1937 to Claude and Eloise Wade Walker in Lubbock, TX. For the past three and a half years she had been living in Amarillo but had lived most of her life in Dumas where she was the Moore County Clerk for 32 years. She was also Past President and Legislative Committee Chair of the County and District Clerks Association in Texas. Rhonnie loved to volunteer for Memorial Hospice and received Volunteer of the Year with over 4,000 hours served and volunteered in the Surgical Wing at the hospital as well. She was a member of the Dumas Order of the Eastern Star and Mother Advisor for the Order of Rainbow for Girls. Rhonnie was the organist at Hunt Memorial Methodist Church for over thirty years. She was a member of First Christian Church. Rhonnie will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Claude and Eloise Walker and grandparents: Lee and Eva Oldaker.

Rhonnie is survived by husband Chuck of Amarillo two sons: Mike Campbell and wife Marsha of Dumas and Brent Campbell and wife Kari of Austin two daughters: Melanie Poole and husband Kenny and Pam Terry all of Amarillo eight grandchildren: Bryan Sparks and wife Carrah of Texarkana, Ashley Poole and partner Jess and Dakota Poole all of Lewisville, Kaleb Poole, Eric Campbell, Shaynie Gideon and husband Daniel, Will Terry and Bob Terry all of Amarillo four great grandchildren: Zane and Zoey Sparks both of Texarkana and Braxxen and Karsyn Gideon both of Amarillo and Bob Campbell, the father of her children.
