Dorothy Jean Wright, 93, formerly of Stratford, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Graveside services are scheduled for 11 o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Stratford Cemetery with Wayne Smith, longtime family friend, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7 o’clock in the evening on Tuesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.

Dorothy was born on February 26, 1925 in Floydada TX to Raymond and Estelle (Umberson) Blount. On September 19, 1942, she was united in marriage to Gail in Plainview, TX. Dorothy had worked for the USDA in the ASC office in Stratford for 30 years until her retirement. Dorothy was a very family oriented lady who took great care of her family. She also enjoyed her church family and was actively involved in the Church of Christ in Stratford. Dorothy was a loving and caring daughter, wife, mother and sister.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gail in 1988 and two brothers: Wayne and Buster Blount.

She is survived by her daughters: Carolyn Wright Nelson and husband Paul of Dallas, Barbara Russell and husband David of College Station; sisters in law: Rita Faye Young of Plainview, TX and Laurie Wright of Clovis, NM; brother in law: Donnie Wright of Byars, OK.
