Thomas David Stovall

Thomas David Stovall, 78, passed away early Sunday morning at BSA Hospital in Amarillo, TX. The service is scheduled for Thursday, May 6th at 2 oclock at Grace Thru Faith Fellowship, with Pastor Jori Buchenau officiating. Interment will follow in the Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 oclock until 8 oclock in the evening on Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Beeson-Morrison Funeral Directors. On January 12, 1943, Thomas was born in Granite, Oklahoma to Faye and Rex Stovall. While attending high school in Granite, Tom met the love of his life, Sue Carpenter, whom he married on September 16th, 1961. They moved to Dumas, TX after graduation where he went to work for his uncle running Polk Phillips 66. He began working in the fertilizer business for Monsanto in the early 1970s. In 1984 he opened Stovall Fertilizer, which he successfully ran for 20 years alongside Scott McWilliams. When he sold the family business in 2004, he continued his public relations through the kitchen where many friends and customers enjoyed his famous Stovall burger. In 2011 he left the fertilizer industry to spend time with his kids and grandkids. For as long as people can remember, Tom has been known as Tom Tom. He was a proud family man. Tom Tom loved his wife Sue in many ways, and if she was happy he was happy. He knew exactly how many ribs each grandchild had. Counting ribs while he tickled, taking every chance to be on the floor with them. Many grandfathers are special but there are few who make you feel as loved as Tom Tom. He was always on your side, knew exactly how to make you feel better, and never told you no. Although his favorite sport was football, forever a Cowboys fan, he would have made an incredible man to have in your corner in a boxing ring. Tom Tom was always in our corner. There was never an opportunity Tom Tom missed to feed someone. He loved to gather with friends and family, always wanting to have Sunday "dinner" or watch a game. Nothing describes Tom Tom quite like Julia Child's quote "People who love to eat are always the best people." You never left Tom Toms house without a full tummy, a full heart, or his latest tune he was humming. Often being Chantilly Lace, one of his favorites. He was preceded in death by his parents Faye and Rex Stovall, his spouse Sue Stovall, and his daughter Shelley Stovall. He is survived by his sister Ann and husband J.D. Wootton of Dumas. His daughter Stacey and husband Harold Grall of Dumas, his grandsons T.J. McWilliams, Dusty McWilliams and wife Kathryn McWilliams, Sean Derrick, Levi Derrick and Wife Chaveli. Also his great-grandchildren; Madalynn Derrick, Justin McWilliams, Chandler Derrick, Beau Derrick, Zoe McWilliams, Parker Derrick, Emalyn McWilliams, Sage McWilliams, Elsa Derrick, and Ava McWilliams. Stacey, Harold and Family Your Dad just made me laugh!! When I talked to your Mom he always wanted to know if I knew any Granite news!!! Your Mom would say, 'Tommy, we were from Lake Creek, we didn't know anything about Granite.' (Can't you just hear her say that?) We would all have the biggest laugh! Know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. Love YOU!!
