A J Goldsmith, 81 of Dumas, died on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Memorial services will be held at 10 o'clock in the morning on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Morrison Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. A J was born alongside his twin brother O F on September 8, 1937 in Memphis TX to Oliver Lee and Lena Mildred Weatherly Goldsmith. He grew up in Parnell TX, went to school in Turkey and graduated high school from Estelline, TX. He was united in marriage to Nina Merl Slagle on November 26, 1958. A J proudly served his country in the United States Army being assigned to NATO as a teletypist. After the service, he was in the parts business from 1959 until 1976, at which time he and his twin brother bought another business and named it Twins Auto Parts. He owned the business until 1981 at which time he went to work for Diamond Shamrock/Maxus Energy until his retirement. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Nina Goldsmith, his daughter, Tammy Sue Goldsmith, and his brother Ronnie Goldsmith. He is survived by his daughter: Kimberly Goldsmith of Dumas; twin brother O F Goldsmith and wife Shirley of Amarillo; grandchildren: Bradley Preston and wife Mary, Kevin Preston and wife Gina; great grandchildren: Taylor Preston, Connor Preston and Beckett Preston; niece: Shelly Goldsmith Black; nephew: Lonnie Dale Bohannon; three great nephews: Brayden Black, Chance Bohannon and Chase Bohannon. The family will be at 1723 Lewis.
