Alma Jean Burgess Pfaff, 89, of Dumas, died Sunday, October 15, 2006, in Dumas. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 17, 2006, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial and graveside services will be Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at 2:00PM in Memorial Park Cemetery in Nowata, OK. Speakers for the graveside service will be Joe and Earl Sears. br br Jean was born August 5, 1917, in Nowata, OK to James Elmer and Bridget Ann Biddy Burgess. She grew up in the NowataBartlesville area in Oklahoma, and after graduating high school, married Jesse Herbert Pfaff. They lived in Shidler, OK and Pampa, TX as well as a number of years in Borger, TX. br nbsp; br In 1961, after moving to Tulare, CA, they purchased the Pfaff Motel and operated the business together until the death of her husband in 1974. She then moved to Bartlesville to care for her best friend her Mother. br nbsp; br In 2000, after her Mothers passing, she moved to Dumas, TX to be near her daughter and son-in-law. Her zest for life endured many hardships and personal losses. To know her was truly to love her. Her brilliant sense of humor, love for family and life itself were overshadowed only by her tremendous gift of generosity. AND everyone just loved her down-home cooking especially when she was building pies br nbsp; br When asked, she would credit all of these wonderful characteristics to her undying faith in the Lord. She became a Christian in 1949 and was an active member of First Baptist Church for many years. br nbsp; br She is loved dearly and will be greatly missed by all family and friends. br nbsp; br Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Jeri Wright, Patricia Mostoufi, and Kathryn Milligan; son, James Herby Dean Pfaff and brother, Jack Burgess. br nbsp; br She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Roberts and husband, Billy of Dumas; two brother-in-laws, Dr. Ken Pfaff of Cottonwood,Idaho and Dr. Robert Butler of Dewey, OK;thirteen grandchildren, Kim Bebee of Broken Arrow, OK, Randy Wright of Bixby, OK, Marcus Wright of Tulsa, OK, Farid Pete Mostoufi of La Palma, CA, Javad Joey Mostoufi of Burney, CA, Darius Mostoufi of Claremont, CA, Niloufar Hood of Okaland, CA, Cindi Hamilton of Angleton, TX, Denise Osborn of Danbury, TX, Mark Milligan of Orange, TX, Michael Spake of El Paso, TX, Lise Vitz and Jeni Janow of McKinney, TX; twenty-five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. br nbsp; br The family requests memorials to Memorial Hospice, 224 E Second, Dumas, TX 79029. br nbsp; br The family will be at 407 Bradley in Dumas.
