Andrew David Sims

Andrew David Sims, 89 of Sunray passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on July 18, 2025, at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Greg Skypala, speaking. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

David was born on November 12, 1935, in Hereford, TX to Lester Wilson and Lola Mae (Cox) Sims. He grew up in Hereford where he graduated from high school. After high school, he served honorably in the United States Army during the Berlin Crisis and Cuban Missile Crisis. On July 24, 1962, he married Mary Skypala in Hereford and six years later in 1968, they moved to Sunray where they made their home and raised their children. David was a hard worker and farmed for over 30 years. David enjoyed road trips with his family, flea markets, garage sales, hobby welding and going for his daily walk to keep his good health. His most treasured accomplishment could be found in the four amazing children he raised and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: L.L. and Richard; sisters: Florene and Juanita.

David is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; children: Mark Sims, Yvonne Schmitz, Lynette Finchum and Bryan Sims; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
