Betty Jo Bacot Edwards, 92 of Channing, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, in Arkansas. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 in the morning on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in the Channing Cemetery with Pastor Jacob Vincent, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 o'clock in the afternoon until 7 o'clock in the evening on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the funeral home in Dumas. Arrangements are entrusted to Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Betty was born February 6, 1933, to Raymond Harold Bacot and Edith E. Wilson Bacot in Jayton, Texas. She spent a brief time as a child living in California with her family, before moving to Channing, Texas with her parents and siblings. Betty accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 15. She was a graduate of Channing High School. On April 3, 1953, she married Dale Roger Edwards. Betty was active within the Channing Community, where she lived for 70 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church there and loved her church family dearly. She worked in the Sheriff’s office,and served as Hartley County Treasurer for many years before retiring. After her retirement from the County, Betty worked at Boys Ranch, Texas, for a few years before she retired due to health reasons. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Betty moved to Arkansas in November 2024 to live with her daughter and be near family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dale, her parents, her son Rodney, her daughter Rohnda, her sister Francis Laverne Baker, one son-in-law Jackie Glen Maupin, one great granddaughter Elahna Bea Mason.
Betty is survived by one daughter Brenda Renee Mason of Huntsville, Arkansas, five grandsons: Roger Elliot, Will Maupin, Brad Poteet, Dustin Maupin and wife, Stephanie, Phillip Mason; six great grandchildren, Haylee Tucker and husband Justin, Laycee Maupin and fiancé Rhett Powell, Kynlee Maupin, Jack Maupin, Peyton Poteet, Jade Mason, and Laynie Maupin; two great-great grandchildren, Hadlee Tucker and Rynlee Powell; her brother Julian Bacot of Richmond, Texas, her sister-in-law Florene and husband Bill Plummer of Paris, Texas; several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests, with gratitude, that memorials be made to the Channing Cemetery Fund, PO Box 204, Channing, TX 79018.
