Bobby Leroy Broxson, 88, of Sunray, Texas went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 17, 2026. He was born on August 17, 1937, in Quitaque, Texas to Lewis (L.A.) and Opal Broxson. He graduated from Sunray High School and later attended Wayland Baptist University, where he played basketball. His college years were cut short when his father, a volunteer fireman, was killed in the Diamond Shamrock plant explosion in 1956. At that time, Bobby returned to Sunray to help his mother fulfill his dad's dream of running the family business.
Bobby married the love of his life Donna Nell Reynolds on October 10, 1958. Together they built a marriage, a family, and a business grounded in faith, hard work, and service to others.
Bobby was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Blake Pyle; his parents, Lewis (L.A.) and Opal Broxson; and his sister, Louise Henderson.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Donna; his children: Bruce Broxson and wife Carrie, Annette Brown and husband Bret, and Lance Broxson and wife Lori. He leaves behind grandchildren: April Malone, Chance Broxson, Jenna Harris (James), Kendra Wisdom (Mark), Jase Brown, Shianne Andujo (Tony}, and Joel Brown; and greatgrandchildren: Andrew, Rees, Creed, Kinsley, Emmalee, Corbin, Leighton, Avery, Sophia, Gracie, Asher, and Jacob.
Bobby dedicated his life to Broxson's Furniture & Appliance, the family business started by his father. What began in 1947 as small appliance sales out of their living room in Cactus grew into a multi-generation Sunray staple. Bobby worked there until he was 86 years old - and even on the day he passed, he was pricing mattresses and making deals.
Bobby was a faithful servant of the Lord and a longtime member of Sunray Baptist Church. He served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and music director for many years before eventually passing that role on to his son, Bruce. His faith wasn't just something he talked about; it was how he lived and how he led his family. Beyond the church, Bobby served the Sunray community in countless ways: including City Council, School Board, and Lions Club.
He was known by many as "Uncle Bobby." He loved sports and was a lifelong fan of the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Indians, and Dallas Cowboys. At home, Bobby's favorite place was his den, gathered around the pool table with his grandkids and great grandkids. He loved a good game of 42 or Blackjack and cherished every chance to spend time with family.
His legacy of faith and service will be carried on by those he loved so much.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Sunray Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Houston, pastor of the church, officiating.
