Bobby Kenneth Clifton, 86, of Dumas, died peacefully with his family around him on Tuesday afternoon October 13, 2020. He was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Samuel Morgan Clifton and Verna Belle Edgington on September 15, 1934. When Bob was 19, a beautiful lady, Helen, captured his attention while cruising main street in Borger, and he spent the next 66 years by her side. Together Bob and Helen raised their children Gary and Bary. First at the camp out at Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America east of Dumas and then later moved to Dumas in 1964.The family grew that eventually included four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Bob worked hard most of his life to provide for those he loved, beginning at a young age farming and working for anyone that had any type of work to do. Andlike many from his generationhe took any honest work he could find. The day after his 18th birthday, he went to work for Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America. He retired from there at 51. He worked for Phillips & Sons in Dumas thereafter until he permanently retired at 62. Bobs love of golf was a constant in his life. He played 4 to 5 days a week and was a member of the Pheasant Trails Golf Course. One of his greatest accomplishments was a Hole-in-one at Pheasant Trails in November 23rd, 2005. He loved to hunt and raised German shorthair pointer puppies. In his retirement years, he went deer hunting yearly with his family, spending time with his son, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He hunted every year up until the past hunting season. Bob cherished time with his family, he loved Helens coconut cream pie, bier ox (family recipe), chicken fried round steak, fried okra, Dallas Cowboy Football, watching a good Western and lots of bad ones, too, and iced tea. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Helen Stevens and grandson, John Kenneth Clifton. He is survived by his wife, Helen, of the home; his son, Gary Wade Clifton and wife, Jayne of Crosby; son, Bary Clifton and partner Bob McCormick of Pompano Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Kayshia and Reagan Grimes of Georgetown, Texas and their son - Reese, Matthew Clifton and Luz Schemel of Aventura, Florida , Kimberly and Tyler Dunman of Kampala, Uganda and their children - Elizabeth, Abigail and Hannah; brother Jerry Clifton and Lyn Clifton of Pittsburg, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. Bobs family would like to extend a special thanks to Moore County Hospice Group and nurses, Dr. Chris Bunch and his Home Health Group and the nursing staff at Dumas Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 700 E. 1st St. Dumas, Texas at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 19, 2020 under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. In lieu of the usual remembrances the family asks for contributions to First Presbyterian Church of Dumas or The Crosby Fair and Rodeo Scholarship Fund where he was a lifetime member.
