Bobby Wayne Thomas

Bobby Wayne Thomas, 78, left this world on Monday, August 3, 2020 at the VA Hospital in Amarillo. Due to the current health restrictions, memorial services will be scheduled for a later date under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. Bobby was born on May 5, 1942 in Quanah, TX to Virgil Wayne and Vivian Thomas. The family moved to Sunray after Bobby was born where he would graduate from Sunray High School in 1960. Bobby joined to serve the United States Army soon after graduating where he served as a track vehicle mechanic among other duties. During his time in the military, he was also stationed overseas in Germany. After being honorably discharged from the United States army in October of 1967, Bobby moved back to the Texas Panhandle to work at Diamond Shamrock until he later retried. He had many hobbies over the years including fishing, riding his motorcycles, hunting, trap and skeet shooting, socializing and cooking for his friends and family. Bobby was a member of the Dumas Nazarene Church. Bobby Wayne Thomas was preceded in death by his father Virgil Wayne, mother Vivian and brother in Law, Harry Harp. Bobby is survived by his only son, Mathew and his wife Lisa of Richfield, KS and his 2 granddaughters, Dandi and Jonathan Owens of Wamego, KS and Bethany Thomas of Richfield, KS. He is also survived by his 2 siblings, sister, Jo Lynn Harp of Amarillo, TX and brother Mike and his wife Reva of Whitesboro, TX. Nephew Merrill and wife Cari Harp and their 2 sons Austin and wife Amanda and Hayden of Dumas, TX and Niece Markae Harp of Amarillo, TX. Should friends desire, memorial contributions can be made to the Fisher House Foundation in remembrance of Bobby to help other veterans who have served this country.
