Charles "Charlie" Linro Chappell

Charles "Charlie" Linro Chappell, born on May 14, 1944, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. Charlie’s life was marked by service, dedication, and a passionate embrace of the activities he loved.

He was born to Linro Crafton and Rhea (Steele) Chappell, Charlie grew up with a deep connection to family and community. A proud graduate of Dumas High School's class of 1963, he went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy. Following his naval service, Charlie dedicated his career to the oil and gas industry, working diligently in the oil fields where his commitment to hard work was recognized by colleagues and friends alike.

Charlie’s interests extended far beyond his professional life. He was an avid golfer, also loved fishing, shooting, and the meticulous art of reloading ammunition, pursuits that reflected his patience and precision. His fascination with astrology revealed a thoughtful and reflective nature, while his passion for motorcycle riding offered a sense of freedom and adventure. In his younger years, Charlie was an enthusiastic Hot Rodder, especially during the late 1960s.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Lane Boyd, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Charlie is survived by his mother, Rhea Hatfield; his sister, Cheryl Elder; and his brother Kenneth Hatfield and his wife Christy, all of whom reside in Amarillo, Texas. Their enduring love and support were a source of strength throughout Charlie’s life, and they cherish his memory dearly. He was preceded in death by his father; half-brother: Robert Chappell.
