Cherie Coaly

Cherie Coaly, 62 of Dumas, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023.  Funeral services are scheduled for 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Chauncey Spencer, pastor of Christ Community Church, officiating.  Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.  The family will receive friends from 6 o’clock until 8 o’clock in the evening on Monday at the funeral home.

Cherie was born on April 16, 1961, in Medina, Ohio to David and Alene (Freeman) Calvert.  She moved to Dumas in 1983 where she worked as an administrative assistant for Dumas Independent School District for 27 years until her retirement.  She married Justin Coaly on August 10, 1996, at the First United Methodist Church in Dumas, they had just celebrated 27 years of marriage.  Cherie had several hobbies which included playing cards, dancing and anything associated with George Strait; she was his biggest fan.  She was also very family oriented and enjoyed summer family pool days, going to Sod Poodle games and loved spending time with her family during the holidays, especially Christmas.  Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, she adored them.

Cherie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dennis Craig Calvert; sisters, Gayla Phyllis Dockery and Delena Faye Watwood.

Cherie is survived by her husband, Justin Coaly of the home; children: Matthew Lawrence and wife Norma, Tim Coaly and wife Claudia, Jennifer Winegarner, Michael Lawrence and Jason Coaly, all of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Isaac and wife Ashley, Haley, Heidi, Hagan, Cynthia and Gilbert, Aaron, Leah, Hunter, James, Emma, Gavyn, Zuriah, Zyler, Josh, Desi and Ashley; brothers and sisters: Dave Calvert and Ellie Calvert.
