Dale Widener, 87 of Dumas passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Funeral Service is scheduled for 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Widener, his son, officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 o’clock to 7 o’clock in the evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Dale was born on November 9, 1936 in Crystal City, TX to Jim and Sadie (Shields) Widener. Dale began working at First State Bank as a teller in high school. After high school, he honorably served in the United States Marine Corp. in 29 Palms for 2 years. After the Marine Corp, he went back to work at the bank where he retired as Vice-President. He married Alice Richey at the Bible Baptist Church in Dumas on March 6, 1960. Dale loved to spend time in Angel Fire at the family cabin, fishing and enjoying time with his family. He also was an excellent woodworker and enjoyed crafting with his wife Alice. He was a longtime member of the Bible Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and most recently as a door greeter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter: Abby.
Dale is survived by his wife, Alice, of the home; sons: Jeff Widener and wife Dora of Amarillo, TX, Johnny Widener and wife Stacy of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Rachel Widener, Justin Widener and Kristina, Becky Widener and husband Stephen, Jonathan Widener and wife Emily, Gabe Widener and Liv, Hannah Lewis and husband Austin; sisters: Ginger Ballard of Collinsville, TX, Gaylon Adams of Dumas, TX along with other extended family members.
