David Ellis Honea, 84 formerly of Plano and Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 o'clock in the morning on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with pastor Matt Price, officiating. Interment will be at Plano Mutual Cemetery next to his wife in Plano, TX. The family will receive friends from 6 o'clock until 7 o'clock in the evening on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
David was born on March 27,1937 in Clovis, NM to Herman and Opal (McKay) Honea. After graduating from Dimmitt High School, David was drafted in the United States Army and served his country honorably with the S2 security division of the 1st Infantry Division. He married Saundra Hance on March 8, 1958 in Dimmitt, TX and they spent 61 years together until her passing in 2019. David worked for Gifford Hill as a district manager and later as a district salesman for Continental Telephone Company. While living in Dumas, David was a member of the First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and was also a member of the Dumas Noon Lions Club. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather: Paul Wilson; wife: Saundra; daughter: Lisa Casados; grandchildren: Chris Casados, Trey Tipton; great grandchildren: Leland Tipton and Addison Tipton.
David is survived by his daughter: Shari Mason of Dumas; grandchildren: Crystal Tipton of Amarillo, TX, Ashley Mader and husband TJ of Dumas, TX, Allison Mason of Tomball, TX; 10 great-grandchildren; brother: Neil Honea of Hawaii; sister-in-laws: Martha Rhynes and husband Lonny and Sue Hance; several nieces and nephews; and David and Jennifer Taylor.
