Dennis Dale Collie

Dennis Dale Collie, 60, formerly of Dumas, began his journey with God, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Howe, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. Dennis was born on October 5, 1957 in Dumas to Ralph and Dale (Duncan) Collie. Dennis grew up in Dumas and graduated from Dumas High School. Dennis had worked as an electrician for the IBEW local 602. Dennis started taking musical lessons at the age of 5 which led to a love of music that lasted his entire life; he could play almost any instrument and loved to play live on stage with various bands. He loved his dogs, cooking for his friends and family and spending time with his grandchildren. You could always count on him and to have a smile on his face. Dennis 'Dog' never knew a stranger and was known for his kindness. He also loved to fish and ride his motorcycle with his friends. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 17 years, Sharon in 2016; sister Pamela; brother: Terry. He is survived by his children: Jeremy Turlington, Jennifer Turlington, Dylan Collie and Daniel Collie, all of Amarillo; parents: Ralph and Dale Collie of Dumas; sister: Denise Lechner and husband Harvey of Dumas; brother: Tony Collie and wife Diane of Virginia; grandchildren: Jentry, Jayden and Hudson; best friend and sister in Christ, Jackie Morris.

My deepest condolences to all who loved Dennis. We grew up together in Dumas. He had such a kind and gentle soul. So many old songs from our youth will keep his memory alive in my heart always.

My prayers for all of the family and friends that will undoubtedly miss Dennis. He has the best audience now with past loved ones and our Father. He will join his wife, Sharon, in eternity and wait for the rest of us. We are the ones feeling pain and sorrow, Dennis is at peace. My heart goes out to his family. Rest In Peace Dennis.

I haven't seen Dennis in awhile, except on Facebook, but sure am sorry to hear about his passing. Way too young. I will miss his Facebook posts. I could see that he still loved his music and family. My heart is with his family. God Bless.
