Douglas Homer Taylor of Kerrick passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Amarillo, TX. Born on January 11, 1951, in Dalhart, TX, Douglas's life was marked by a deep love for music, a passion for finance, and a deep commitment to his family and friends.
Douglas was the son of the late Ray Taylor and Nita Butler. He grew up in the close-knit town of Kerrick and graduated from Stratford High School before continuing his education at the University of Texas. His career in finance as a stock investor was distinguished by a keen intellect and steady dedication. Douglas’s love of music was a defining aspect of his life; he was an accomplished guitar player whose melodies brought joy to many.
He is survived by his daughter Mandy King of Amarillo, TX, who carries forward his legacy with pride. Douglas is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Linda Keener of Stratford, TX; Pam Bench of Waco, TX, whom he regarded as the love of his life; and Pam's daughter Nicky Jordan. Nicky’s children, McKenzie and Lexie, also hold a special place in his heart, reflecting the broad circle of family to whom Douglas was devoted.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Taylor and Nita Butler, and his brother, Bill Taylor. Their memory remains deeply ingrained in the fabric of his life and the hearts of those who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, May 4, 2026, at First Methodist Church in Stratford, TX with Pastor Robert Burke, officiating, assisted by Pastor Kevin Anderson. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
In remembering Douglas Homer Taylor, we honor a man whose talents, warmth, and spirit touched many. His guitar strings may fall silent, yet the songs he played will echo eternally in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him in return.
