Kent Watson, 66, of Atoka, Oklahoma, passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2026, while transporting an RV near Vail, Colorado.
Kent was born on July 2, 1959, in Tulia, Texas, to Mary and Verlon Watson. He attended school in Tulia before moving to Dumas, where he graduated from Dumas High School in 1977. A hardworking man throughout his life, Kent began farming while still in high school, later owned a propane business serving the Texas Panhandle, and eventually found his calling transporting RVs across the country—a job that perfectly matched his love of traveling and seeing new places.
Outside of work, Kent enjoyed many interests and loved tending his garden. He had a true gift for growing things and especially enjoyed fresh jalapeño peppers to share with family and friends. Kent was happiest traveling with Crystal and their dogs, getting to see new things and try new food. They loved spending time on the beach and sitting and watching the ocean together, which they were so lucky to do so many times.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Verlon Watson, and his stepfather, Tommy Lacewell.
He is lovingly survived by his long time partner, Crystal Wootton; his son, Kaleb Watson and wife Allison and their children Ivy (“Curly”) and Emarey; his stepson, Wes Luther, wife Kalli, and their children, Peyton and Drew; his stepdaughter Bailee Gaylord, husband Mitch and their daughter Evelyn Sage; his sister, Sheree Lowry and husband Bob; his brother, Keith Watson and wife Linda; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Grace Thru Faith with Bruce Broxson officiating. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 5 o'clock in the afternoon until 7 o'clock in the evening on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Kent will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the open road, the care he gave into his garden, his devotion to his animals, his generous heart, and the friendships he made everywhere life took him.
