Dumas

Earl Ferris of Dumas passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024.  A come and go reception will be held at Earl and Mary’s home, 511 Willow, Dumas, TX from 2 o’clock in the afternoon to 3:30 in the afternoon on Sunday, March 17, 2024. Cremation is under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. 

Earl was born on September 8, 1931, in Lawton, OK to Joseph Delbert and Irena Eva (Fondren) Ferris. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December 1950. He served for 2 years then received an honorable hardship discharge when his father died in 1952. Earl went on to study at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education with a Business Major and History Minor. Earl worked for Continental Carbon Co. at Ponca City, OK, Hobbs, NM and Sunray, TX. He worked in the plant office doing accounting and personnel work. 

While working in Ponca City, OK he met his wife, Mary. They were married on September 25, 1958 in Lovington, NM and were married for 65 years. He loved watching baseball and the New York Yankees. Earl adored his grandchildren and enjoyed watching their athletic events as well.

In addition to his loving wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: J.D, George Richard, Virginia Ann, Edith Marie, and Shirley Sue.

Earl is survived by his daughter in law, Pam Grimes of Dumas, TX; grandsons: Zach Ferris and wife Randi of Bushland, TX and Lance Ferris and wife Leslie of Fort Worth, TX; great grandchildren: Mason, Quaid, Zachary and Wyatt.
