Erma Lee Houston

Erma Lee Houston, 96 formerly of Stratford, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019. The funeral service will be held at 2 oclock in the afternoon on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at First Assembly of God with Rev. Kevin Anderson, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Stratford Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. Erma was born on February 15, 1923 in Cushing, TX to Henry and Martha (Hartless) Gresham. She was united in marriage to Tolbert L. Houston Jr. on November 23, 1963 in Shamrock, TX; he preceded her in death in 2004. Erma was a homemaker and a member of the Stratford Assembly of God. Erma had many hobbies which included having her family all together and cooking for her family. Some of her favorite dishes were her pecan pie and fried apricot pie. She also made delicious jelly and biscuits. She also loved to drive the tractor and plow the field. Erma was a great lady who loved the Lord dearly. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Rita Rakestraw; grandson: Eldon Rakestraw; two great grandchildren: Jacob White and Tandi White. She is survived by her children: Joyce Morgan and husband C.R. "Cotton" of Bronte, TX, Claudette Mierzwik of Greenville, TX and Ronnie Laramore and wife Susan of Canyon, TX; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
