Eva Mae Tate

Eva Mae Tate, 102 of Dumas, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Gerald Clark officiating and Shannon Gillespie assisting.  Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.  The family will receive friends from 6 o’clock until 8 o’clock in the evening on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Eva was born May 24, 1920, in Roby, TX to Robert and Bessie Mae (Campbell) Early.  She married Jack Tate on December 3, 1952, in Lubbock, TX and the couple lived in Dumas where they raised their daughters and made their home.  Eva loved gardening and her favorite was her rose bushes.  She also enjoyed sewing and crochet.  She was a very uplifting lady who always found the positive in the everything.  Eva was very supportive of her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nanny Tate” and could always be found in attendance at all their events.  She was also a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church where she directed the nursery for numerous years. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, brothers: Wayland Early, Allen Ray Early, Dale Early and Barney Early; grandson: Phillip Wayland Boyd.

Eva is survived by her daughters: Evelyn Carole Boyd and partner Amy O. Fulton of Corpus Christi, TX and Charlotte Pitts and husband Mike of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Connie Boyd of Iowa, Craig Boyd and wife Deborah of Dumas, TX, Tiffney Alexander of Dumas, TX, Ashley McWilliams of Amarillo, TX, Chelsea Moore and husband Kenneth of Amarillo, TX and Ryan Pitts of Dumas, TX; great grandchildren: Justin Boyd and partner Billy, Nathan Boyd and wife Delyn, Crystal Gaunt, Paige Alexander and Jackson Alexander; great great grandchildren: Aurora Boyd, Stark Boyd and Kalysa Boyd; sister in law: Sherry Early along with numerous other extended family members.

The family suggests memorials be made to Bible Baptist Church, 212 W 1st Street, Dumas TX 79029.
