Evelyn Stone Gregory

Evelyn Stone Gregory, 81 of Sunray, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of Friday, July 24, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Seth Seale officiating. Interment will follow in Lane Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 o'clock in the afternoon until 7 o'clock in the evening at the funeral home in Dumas.

Evelyn was born on December 6, 1945, in Weiser, Idaho, to John and Maxine Longly. She attended high school in Springdale, Arkansas. After graduating, she moved to Spearman, Texas, in 1967, where her grandparents resided. Evelyn married Pete Stone on September 22, 1962. Together they built a loving home and raised three sons: Rockey, Sammy, and Randy Stone.

Evelyn was a woman of unwavering faith and a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church in Sunray, Texas. Some of her greatest joys were found in teaching the children of the congregation about Jesus. She faithfully served through Vacation Bible School and children’s church, sharing God’s love with countless young hearts. She truly embodied the quiet and gentle spirit described in 1 Peter 3:4.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard (Pete) Stone; husband, Ralph Gregory; great granddaughter, Gabriella Ramirez; and siblings, Dewey Longly, Ella Collins, and Roberta Longly.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Rockey Stone and wife, Stacy, of Stratford; Sammy Stone and wife, Amanda, of Sunray; and Randy Stone and wife, Wendy, of Sunray. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Trenton Stone and wife, Kaitlyn, of Stratford; Tanner Stone and wife, Madison, of Stratford; Whitney Childress and husband, Jarrett, of Stratford; Hayden Stone and wife, Haven, of Sunray; Mariah Ramirez and husband, Alex, of Overton, Texas; Hunter Stone of Sunray; Tyler Stone of Stratford, and one sister, Effie Cobb. Evelyn also leaves behind a passel of great-grandchildren, who were truly the highlight of her life. She cherished every moment spent with them, and they brought her immeasurable joy.

Evelyn will be dearly missed by her friends, but most of all by her family. While our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice in knowing she is home with her Savior.
