Genaro "Bird" Mata III, 43 of Dumas, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020. Viewing will be from 8 oclock in the morning until 8 oclock in the evening on Monday, April 27, 2020 at Morrison Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2 oclock in the afternoon on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at the Dumas Cemetery with Father Gabriel Garcia officiating. Those in attendance are asked to observe social distancing and all current directives from our local authorities. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Bird was born on October 21, 1976 in Dumas, TX to Genaro Mata Jr. and Juanita Salinas. He grew up in Dumas and graduated from Dumas High School in 1995. Bird had worked at JBS Swift for the last 15 years. Bird loved sports, Tejano music and cars; he was a member of the "Sweet Dreams" Car Club. Bird was also a very loyal and good friend who will be missed by all who knew him. Bird is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Genaro and Maria del Refrugio Flores Salinas and his paternal grandparents: Genaro Mata Sr. and Biatriz Ledesma. Bird is survived by his daughters: Genesis Alexis Mata and Destiny Monique Mata both of Bovina, TX; mother: Juanita Salinas of Dumas, TX; father: Genaro Mata Jr. of Garden City, KS; siblings: Augustine Mata of Amarillo, TX, Dee-Anna Mata Green and husband Troy of College Station, TX and Marcos Isaac Mata of Amarillo, TX. He also leaves behind too many friends to name.
