Genell Galloway, 91 of Dumas, passed away on October 1, 2018. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Anthony Inman officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. Genell was born August 4, 1927 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Lawrence and Bertha Good. She graduated high school from Siloam Springs in 1945. She graduated from Sparks Nursing School in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1948 as a registered nurse. Genell married the love of her life, Frank Galloway, on March 5, 1948 in Benton, Arkansas. They were married for almost 70 years. Their marriage, love and commitment to each other were one that will impact our family for years to come. Frank preceded her in death on January 12, 2013. Frank and Genell lived in Cactus, Texas until 1963, at which time they moved into Dumas where they lived the remainder of their lives. Genell worked part-time at Dumas Memorial Hospital until 1971 and full-time from 1971 to 1989. She delivered many babies through the years, including all but one of her grandchildren. Genell was our strongest support and our family's biggest source of strength. She was fiercely protective of her family and welcomed any new member with open arms. Her home and life were always full of kids from her own kids and their friends to the friends of her grandchildren. She was a talented seamstress and quilter She was a wonderful cook and was well known for her hot rolls. She could cook for an army and make it look effortless and no one ever left the Galloway home hungry. We affectionately called her Mom, Grandma, Aunt Nell, Sis, and friend. Genell was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the VFW Ladies Auxilary. Genell attended countless sports activities through the years. She was our biggest cheerleader for any and all activities we were involved in. Genell is survived by her children: Son, Tim and Janie Galloway of Flagstaff, Arizona; Daughter, Janis and Brady Hunt of Dumas, Texas; Son, Randy Galloway of Del Rio, Texas. 5 Grandchildren: Lance Galloway of Phoenix, Arizona; Nikki Bedlion (Travis) of Flagstaff, Arizona; Shelly (Andy) Etheredge of Dumas, Texas; Asa Allen (Mary Michael) of Austin, Texas; and Garrett Galloway of Del Rio, Texas. 5 Great Grandchildren: Devyn, Braylen, Brenna, Makena and Elliot. A brother, Gene Good of Austin, Texas and a sister Deanna Baker of Pampa, Texas and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins. In honor of Genell, the family requests that memorials be made to a charity of your choice.
