Glenn Godfrey

Glenn Godfrey, 79, of Dumas, died Tuesday, October 24, 2006, in Dumas. Services will be held Friday, October 27, 2006, at 2:00 PM in First Street Church of Christ with Art Lynch, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Godfrey was born January 24, 1927, in Granite, OK to John and Pauline Godfrey and came to Dimmitt, TX as a child. On January 4, 1947, he married Polly Young of Hereford. He lived in Castro County for 20 years. He loved the land and making things grow and spent most of his years in agriculture related work. Having farmed and ranched in Dimmitt, TX, Eva, OK and Clayton, NM, he moved to Dumas in 1986. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pauline Godfrey; and two sisters, Faye Bloom and Argie McDonald. Survivors include his wife Polly Godfrey of the home; one son, Eddy Godfrey and wife, Linda of Dumas; three daughters, Peggy Lane and husband, Danny and Cathy Chandler both of Dumas and Judy Arias and husband Ray of Amarillo; one brother, Ted Godfrey of Pecos, TX; three sisters, Jo Wells of Friona, TX, Johnnie Self of Johnson City, TN and Carolyn Harris of Tulsa, OK; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Paul, Keitha, Teresa, Dustin, Vanessa, Elijah and Brittany and eleven great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials to Building Fund, First Street Church of Christ, PO Box 1207, Dumas,TX 79029. The family will be at the Golden Heritage Clubhouse, 18th and S Meredith in Dumas. P
