Granville Smith 82 passed away Monday, November 13, 2006 in Dumas, Texas. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Wagoner, former pastor officiating, assisted by Rev. Beth Harrington, pastor of the church. Masonic Graveside Rites will be held at Dumas Cemetery by Masonic Lodge 1009 of Dumas, Texas and Flag Detail by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas.
Granville was born January 20, 1924 in Littlefield, Texas to Robert and Alta Smith. He served six years in the US Navy during WWII. On December 24, 1943 he married Dorothy Shore who preceded him in death on April 6, 2003. He had been a resident of Dumas since 1960 and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Granville was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Dumas Lodge 1009 since 1965 and past Patron of Dumas Chapter 653 Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include: daughter, Pam Baker and husband, Don of Dumas; son, Bruce Smith and wife, Linda of Dumas; five sisters Eunice Porter of Calimesa, CA., Tina Lund of Arlington, TX., Yvonne Ray of Rockwall, TX., Jo Mobley of Arlington, TX., and Kay Watts of Littlefield, TX.; one brother G.H. Smith of Boyd, TX.; seven grandchildren Karri, Kristi, David, Brian, Shelly, Sabrina, and Jason; and twelve Great-Grandchildren.
