Imelda G. Maldonado, 76, of Dumas, Texas, passed away on November 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born in Laredo, Texas, to Elida and Oscar Gomez — the beginning of a life rooted in joy, strength, and service.
Imelda is survived by her devoted husband, Florencio, her beloved sister Elvira, her children Jake, Linda, Martin, Angel, Ricardo, and Pedro, along with her 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren — each of them carrying forward her spirit and love.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Olga Gallegos and Elida Gutierrez; her grandson, Xavier Coley; her aunt, Enedelia Melendez; and her cousin, Fernando Hernandez.
Imelda spent most of her life in service of others — through her long career at JBS and her role as Special Assistant to the President of UFCW Local 540 of Texas. She stood for fairness, lived with integrity, and gave selflessly.
She was known for her generosity, her loyalty, and her deep love of friends, music, dancing, and food. As a child, she’d yell, “Stop the car!” just to dance on the side of the road when her favorite song came on. That joy stayed with her — as an adult, she never missed a chance to dance like no one was watching.
Imelda was the heart of her family and a steady, joyful presence in her community. She cared deeply, gave freely, and lived fully. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched.
