James Gordon Colston

October 25, 1942 — January 8, 2022

James Gordon Colston, 79 of Channing, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Talon Point with Pastor Keith Hight, pastor of Middlewell Methodist Church, officiating. Private family burial will take place in Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock in the evening on Tuesday at the funeral home.

James was born on October 25, 1942, in Yuma, AZ to John Bee Gordon and Katherine Mable (Brewer) Colston. He grew up in Dumas and graduated from Dumas High School with the class of 1963. After graduation, James was united in marriage to Wanda Harbert on August 21, 1964. James went to work at Shamrock Oil and Gas and eventually retired from Valero after 37 years of service as a 1st class pipefitter. James had a love for everything in life. He enjoyed riding horses, working cattle, playing 42 and dancing. More than anything, James loved his family and was very proud of his grandchildren. He followed them in all their endeavors and would always speak of their accomplishments. James was a member of the Middlewell Methodist Church and will be missed by all who knew him.


James was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Betty Norrid and Connie Harbert; brothers: Wayne Colston and Donald Colston.


James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wanda of the home; daughters: Kelli Lanham and husband James of Dumas, TX and Carolee Trolinger and husband Raymond of Borger, TX; grandchildren: Derrick Lanham and wife Haupe of Channing, TX, Brady Lanham of Dalhart, TX, Kimber Trolinger of Pampa, TX, Cooper Trolinger of Plainview, TX and Quaid Trolinger of Borger, TX; sister: Ann Baker and husband John of Hewitt, TX; brother: John Bee Colston and wife Darlene of Three Rivers, TX; sister in law: Doris Harbert of Piedmont, OK; great grandchildren: Kennedi, Porter, Laramie, Taralee and Wade; numerous nieces and nephews.


The family suggests with gratitude that memorials be made to Middlewell Methodist Church, 5895 Road W, Channing TX 79018.
