James Marion Hogan

James Marion Hogan, 87, went to be with his creator and Lord Jesus Christ on September 6, 2016. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 o'clock in the morning on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Sunray Church of Christ with Jonathan Zerby, minister of the church, officiating. Interment will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 o'clock until 6 o'clock at the Morrison Memorial Chapel in Sunray. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. James was born November 16, 1928 to Cross and Bonnie Hogan in Hollis, Oklahoma. James married Betty Lou in Shamrock, TX on June 27, 1953. James married Alta Duvall in Las Vegas, Nev on July 24, 1982. He joined the Army on November 16, 1950 and was discharged on November 16, 1952. James moved to Sunray, Texas in 1955 and where he worked for Diamond Shamrock, owned Hogan Dozer Service for nine years and Moore County operating heavy equipment, retiring in 1993 after 18 years. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who enjoyed good conversation with people and will be missed by all his family and friends. His hobbies including hunting pheasant and quail, fishing for walleye and shooting pool. James and Alta enjoyed many trips camping and fishing, including winters in Mission Texas where he loved to shoot pool and visit with other 'Snowbirds'. He was very proud of donating 15 gallons of blood over many years. James was a member of the Church of Christ of Sunray. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Calvin Hogan, Don Hogan; granddaughter: Zadina Rhyne. James is survived by his wife: Alta of the home; son: Bill Hogan and wife Susie of Dumas, TX., daughters: Diane Reynolds and husband Joe of New Braunfels, TX; Debra Lareau and husband Mitch of Topeka, KS, Denise Davenport and husband Mark of Amarillo, TX, Dee Clark of Dallas, TX and Jana Young of Bertram, TX; grandchildren: Chad Belden of Amarillo, Dawn Denney of Amarillo, Misty Roberts, Topeka, KS, Ely Reynolds of New Braunfels, TX, Tessa Rude of Edmond, OK, Paul Davenport of Frisco, TX, Lindsey Seger of Dallas, TX, Dana Davenport of Amarillo, Nicole Davenport of Amarillo, TX Macon Clark of Dallas, TX and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: Edwin Hogan and Glen Hogan of Pampa, LaWayne Hogan of Hot Springs Village, Ark, Gaylon Hogan of Dennison, TX; sisters, Wilma Nel Miller of Sanford, Fla, Lavada Helton, Marble Falls, TX.
