Janet McDaniel Newton

Janet McDaniel Newton, 76 of Dumas passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022.  Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, February 25, 2022, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at HIS Church, 10 Elm Street, Dumas, TX with Pastor Frank Gordoa officiating.  Interment will follow in the Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.  The family will receive friends from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock in the evening on Thursday at the funeral home.

Janet was born on September 1, 1945, in Dumas TX, to Don and Beth McDaniel.  She grew up in Dumas and graduated Dumas High School in 1963.  She was united in marriage to George Newton Sr. in 1964 in Clovis, NM and the couple made Dumas their home.  Janet went to work at Dairy Queen and eventually opened the Demon Mart that she owned and operated for over 25 years.  Janet also loved to make and decorate cakes with her grandchildren, and sister Rhonda.  She loved the color red and the family would like to encourage everyone to wear red for the service.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents, husband George Sr., daughter Linda Holt, son Gary Wayne Newton, grandchildren: Tracy Woods and Mandy Camp and brother Robbie McDaniel.

Janet is survived by her sons: George Newton Jr. and wife Shelly of Rogers, AR and Jarrett Newton and wife Sally of Arlington, TX, grandchildren: Daisy Gifford and husband Josh, George Holt IV, Marshall Camp, Melody Campbell, Stephanie Butterfield, Christina Jacquot and husband Mychal, Maegan Foster and husband Ben and Sarah Newton, 8 great grandchildren, siblings: Dean McDaniel and wife Leah of Conroe, TX, Don McDaniel of Dumas, TX, Rhonda McDaniel of Dumas, TX, Tony McDaniel and wife Sharon of Henderson NV, Randy McDaniel and wife Melissa of Cumming, GA, sister in law, Brenda McDaniel of Hendersonville, TN and numerous other extended family members.

The family suggests with gratitude that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
