Jeanette Elaine Cruz

Jeanette Elaine (Eddy) Cruz, 73, of Dumas, passed away early Friday morning November 8, 2019. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, at 2 oclock in the afternoon at The Church of the Nazarene in Dumas, with Rev. Steve Swanson Officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Jeanette was born November 30, 1945 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Gerald and Juanita (Nuckols) Eddy. She would graduate from high school in 1964 then attended Bethany Nazarene Teacher College and taught kindergarten in Bakersfield, CA for 35 years. Jeanette met Joaquin "Jack" Cruz and they married in 1981 in Las Vegas. Their daughter, Julia and granddaughter Rosie were the love her life. She was afforded the opportunity to be an exchange teacher in Canada. Jeanette loved to shop, always up for a shopping trip and she was a very sassy person. She was very dedicated to her children and her family was very special to her, so after retiring from California, she returned to Dumas to be closer to her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her husband, Joaquin in 2009, and her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister: Margaret Ellen Eddy, her nephew Dalton Coffer and niece Lisha Steele. Jeanette is survived by her daughter: Julia Cruz; granddaughter: Rosie Cruz; sister: Carolyn Savely; and brother: Dwayne Eddy all of Dumas, as well as many extended family. She is also survived by her dear friends Barbara Mansfield and Jacky Wobbe of Bakersfield, CA.

Bless all of your hearts. I was so shocked to read this obituary but I have been ill myself and am undergoing extensive testing on Monday and Tuesday so haven't been in contact with Lou. However, my thoughts, tears and prayers are right there with you. I am so glad she got to spend time with Carolyn and all of the family. Grieve-as-you must, not-as-others will tell you is right, wrong or different. Travel the hard pathway ahead holding tightly to God's unfailing and unchanging hand. There is only one pathway for each as we all have our own, that is why it is pathway and not pathways. I love all. May God bless you abundantly and greatly. Jackie
