Jerry Morton, born on April 26, 1961, in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Harold and Jo Evelyn Morton, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. A man of remarkable talent, unwavering dedication, and deep humility, Jerry leaves behind a legacy defined by hard work, family devotion, and heartfelt generosity.
Jerry moved to Dumas in 1982 where he worked for Dumas Co-Op. Jerry was also a gifted welder and a highly skilled craftsman, whose expertise was honed over many years working in construction with Speye Tech. Known for his tireless work ethic and willing spirit, he was always ready to lend a hand to those in need, often described as someone who would give the shirt off his back without hesitation. His commitment to excellence and his humble nature earned him the respect and admiration of coworkers, friends, and family alike.
Family was the cornerstone of Jerry's life. He married his beloved wife Andrea Marquez on May 26, 1979, in their hometown of Tucumcari, NM. Together, they built a strong and loving family, cherished by their children and grandchildren. Jerry's family was his greatest priority, and he delighted in being present for every milestone and moment shared with them.
He was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas, TX, where he found spiritual strength and a community that reflected his values of kindness and service. His faith guided him throughout life and provided comfort to those who knew him.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Andrea Morton; his children, Jason Morton and his wife Geneva of Amarillo, TX; Denise Pizana and her husband Adrian of Amarillo, TX; and Erika Vecchio and her husband Mickey of Dumas, TX. His legacy also lives on through his treasured grandchildren Katelynn, Aden, Isaac, Liam, Andreas, Luka, Ezra, Aria, and Valen, who brought immense joy to his later years.
He is further survived by his mother: Jo Evelyn Morton, his siblings Gary Morton of Las Vegas, NM; Sharon Matier of Albuquerque, NM; and James Morton of Tucumcari, NM. He was preceded in death by his father and grandson, Elias Vecchio.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Griffin, officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 o’clock to 7 o’clock in the evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Jerry Glyn Morton’s life was marked by steadfast dedication to his craft, an unyielding love for his family, and a humble spirit that touched all who were blessed to know him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him and in the stories that celebrate a life well lived.
