Jerry Lee Smith

Jerry Lee Smith, 81 of Dumas passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Lane Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Jerry was born on July 23,1944 in Dumas, TX to Robert Burton and Gladys (Smart) Smith. He grew up in Sunray where he attended schools. He later went to work for Continental Carbon where he worked until he retired.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Autney Smith, Cecil Smith, Bud Smith, Melba Wilcox and Bobby Smith; sisters: Melba Wilcox, and Sandra Gist.

Jerry is survived by his son: James Smith and wife Cynthia of Grand Prairie, TX, daughters: Sheila Johnson and husband Michael of Sunray, TX, Cindy Bownds and husband Arlie of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Ashley Bain, Casey Bownds, Brittney Blackshear, Parker Johnson, Jaxon Smith, Lincoln Smith, Sydney Bell and husband Benjamin; 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Mary Smith, who was his wife and mother to their children. They were no longer married but shared a deep respect and cared for each other.
