Jimmy “Cotton” Lamb, 82 of Sunray, Texas passed away on Friday, January 12th, 2024.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the Bible Baptist Church in Sunray with Pastor Seth Seale officiating. Interment will follow at Brown Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. 

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 o’clock to 8:00 o’clock in the evening on Thursday at the Morrison Memorial Chapel at 401 S. Ave N, Sunray, Texas.

Cotton was born on April 12, 1941 in Borger, Texas.  He attended Spring Creek Elementary in the oil fields east of Borger and graduated from Borger High School in 1959.  He operated a gas station in Skellytown, Texas where he met his wife “Helen Trask Lamb” and soon married.  In 1963, they moved to Sunray and he started working at Diamond Shamrock which is now Valero southwest of Sunray.  He retired in 2003 after 40 years of service.  He also owned and operated a backhoe and ditching service for many years.  

Cotton was an outdoor enthusiast and loved hunting, training his bird dogs and fishing.  He grew up east of Borger where his father was an oil pumper and he loved hunting quail on the leases.  

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Lamb, parents Uial and Nina Lamb, three brothers: Harold Lamb of Andrews, Texas, F.A. Lamb of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Preston Lamb of Pampa, Texas and one sister Sue Dolan of Orange, Texas.

Survivors include two sons Michael Lamb and wife Kristi of Roman Forest, Texas, Melvin Lamb and wife Ellie of Searcy, Arkansas and daughter Shannon Skaley and husband Byron of El Reno, Oklahoma.  Cotton had eight grandchildren Tiffany Owings, Matthew Skaley, Hannah Wilbanks, Kyle Ray, Kaleb Ray, Maddie Lamb, Emma Lamb, Kamiryn Lamb and thirteen great grandchildren Gage Owings, Logan Owings, Baylor Owings, Brady Owings, Hudson Owings, Bently Ray, Bryndle Ray, Braezlynn Ray, Karson Ray, Wyatt Wilbanks, Shepherd Skaley, Shiloh Skaley and Sutton Skaley.
