Jimmy Lee Payne, 82 of Dumas, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 oclock in the morning on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Fobbs, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #224 of Dumas. The family will receive friends from 6 oclock until 8 oclock in the evening on Friday at the funeral home. Jimmy Lee Payne was born on June 22, 1938 to Arthur Lee and Lillie Mae (Robertson) Payne in Slaton, TX. He attended Levelland High School and later joined the United States Air Force serving in the 497th Fighter Squadron. Jimmy worked for Diamond Shamrock for over 37 years until his retirement. On December 27, 1985, he married Jodena Crow at the First Baptist Church in Dumas. He was a member of the Dumas Noon Lions Club, the Moore County Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed making popcorn for the Moore County Hospital Auxiliary. Jimmy enjoyed golfing, softball and baseball. He coached both softball, baseball and umpired in little league. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church and will be greatly missed. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Jeffery Lynn Payne and Danny Lee Payne; two brothers: ALB Payne and Thomas Payne; four sisters: Velma, Pauline, Jane, Bonnie; grandson: James William Ralston II. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jodena Payne; son: Rusty Lee of Pampa, TX; daughters: Tammy Lane and husband Kyle of Haltom city; Shana Crow and partner Kristy Kirkpatrick of Fritch, TX; grandchildren: Cheyenne Benson; Alyssa Randall and husband David; Randon Payne and wife Kassandra; Jaden Payne; Ashjen Payne; Garrett Payne; Nick Payne; Hunter Lane; great-grandchildren: Kamron Fisher and Emma Payne; sisters: Artie McMinn of Ruidoso, NM and Mary Nixon, of Tucson, AZ. The family suggests with gratitude that memorials be made to Moore County Senior Citizens Center, Temple Baptist Church Youth Camp or to your local favorite charity.
