Jimmy Don Wootton

Jimmy Don Wootton, 78 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.  Funeral services are scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Friday, December 29, 2023, at First Street Church with Matt Matzke, pastor of the church officiating.  Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.  Jimmy will be available for viewing from 12 o’clock noon until 8 o’clock in the evening on Thursday at the funeral home.

Jimmy was born on February 3, 1945, in Canadian, TX to Alton “Cotton” and Rubinell (Snider) Wootton.  He grew up in Granite where he was a member of the basketball and baseball teams.  He married Ann Stovall in 1963 in Granite, OK; the couple later moved to Dumas where they raised their children and made their home.  Jimmy was a welder and retired from Conoco Phillips with over 40 years of service.  He enjoyed all sporting events but especially baseball.  His favorite past time was following his grandchildren and supporting them in all their events.  He was a member of the First Street Church and will be greatly missed.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann of the home; sons: Lyndon Wootton of Kansas City, MO and Randy Wootton and wife Tisha of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Casey, Bailee, Braden and wife Shea and Broc; great grandchildren: Jade and Jordyn; brothers: Leo Wootton, Don Wootton, Dennis Wootton and Dick Banister; his beloved dog BB along with numerous other extended family members.
