Jose “Joe” Calderon, 67 of Dumas passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. The Rosary will be recited at 6 o’clock in the evening on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Morrison Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 o’clock in the morning on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Luis Lopez, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Joe was born on July 26, 1957, in Waukegan, IL to Jose and Maria (Rodriguez) Calderon. He married Sara DeLeon on May 8, 1976, in Mineral Wells, TX. Dumas became their home, and they made their life together raising their daughters Sonya and Priscilla. Jose was a devoted father and grandfather who had a passion for woodworking and worked for many years in the construction business. Many times, he could be found in his workshop creating special gifts for friends and family. Jose was a man of simple things and loved being outdoors and spending time with his dogs. He enjoyed all kinds of music and would listen to it while he was working. Joe was a member of St Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Dumas and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Joe is survived by his wife, Sara of the home; daughters: Sonya Padron and husband Chris and their daughter, Brea of Amarillo, Priscilla Calderon and her children, Benjamin, Viviana, Joaquin of Sour Lake, TX; siblings: Victor Calderon and wife Dora, Yolanda Rueles, Ramiro Calderon, Cecilia Veliz all of Mineral Wells, TX, Martha Cordova and husband Arturo of Ft Worth, TX.
The family suggests with gratitude, in lieu of flowers memorials be made to your favorite charity.
