Joseph Andrew Zavala

Joseph Andrew Zavala, of Amarillo, formerly of Sunray, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Monday, February 14, 2022, at Sunray Baptist Church with Ken Houston and Brian Taylor, officiating. Interment will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. 

Joseph was born on February 16, 1990, in Dumas, TX.  He grew up in Sunray and graduated from Sunray High School where he was active in football, track and band.  After graduation, he moved to Amarillo where he was been a paramedic and EMT.  Joseph was a very gifted young man and could play any instrument.  He also enjoyed collecting Yu-Gi-Oh! cards.  He was the most caring and straight forward person. He loved with all his being.  He could make you laugh and cry in the same sentence.  He loved his family and loved his life.  He was always laughing and so happy. He was there to support everyone he could and would help anyone he could when he could.  He was very intelligent and knew his craft well. Joseph wanted to save the world. And would have if he were able. He was an avid musician and could play anything as soon as he heard it; he practiced until he got it right. Joseph will be dearly missed by all he came in contact with. Joseph was a member of the Sunray Baptist Church.

Joseph was preceded in death by his great grandparents: Dean and Marlene Bryan, Beryl Anderson, Mariano and Buenaventura Garcia and Willie and Josephine Zavala.  

Joseph is survived by his parents: Shane and Julie Anderson of Fritch, TX; brothers: Josh Anderson and Anna Rodriguez and family of Sunray, TX, Jonathon Anderson of Amarillo, TX; grandparents: Larry and Kim Anderson of Sunray, TX; Cruz and Elda Zavala of Floydada, TX; aunts and uncles: Christina and Chris Kimbrell, Elda Burroughs, Mary and Mauricio Fuentes, Cruz Jr. and Jennifer Zavala all of Amarillo, TX and Scott Anderson and Cheryl Foard of Sunray, TX; numerous other extended family members.
