Judy Toliver, a beloved educator and cherished member of the Dumas community, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, in Dumas, Texas. Born on October 16, 1941, in Amarillo, Texas, Judy dedicated her life to teaching and nurturing young minds, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Judy’s teaching career spanned an impressive 24 years at Hillcrest Elementary, where she taught first grade. Her approach to education was deeply rooted in creativity and compassion. She inspired her students not only to learn but to develop a profound love for nature and a heartfelt respect for all living creatures. Her classroom was a place of discovery and kindness, reflecting her genuine passion for fostering empathy and curiosity in children. Over the years, many of her former students have reached out sharing cherished memories of being in Mrs. Toliver's 1st grade classroom.

On May 31, 1963, Judy married P.T. Toliver, with whom she shared a devoted partnership throughout her life; P.T. and Judy were true soulmates. Together, they created a loving home and a strong foundation for their family.

Judy is survived by her husband, P. T. Toliver; her daughter Jan Toliver and son Clayton Shank; daughter Rogena Kesinger, her husband Clay, and their daughters Amanda Donogue and Skyler Kesinger; great grandchildren Landon and Bradyn; along with numerous other extended family members. Over the years, Judy loved her pets and they were truly cherished members of the family. Her family knew her as a woman of warmth, creativity and unwavering love. They will always remember her laughter, love for life and her genuine caring and compassion for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Rogene Clayton, her sister Carol Hall, and her twin sister Jan Clayton. The loss of Judy is deeply felt by all who knew her, and she will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to education, and her gentle spirit.

Judy’s life was a testament to the power of teaching with love and the importance of caring for the world around us. Her legacy of nurturing young hearts and minds will continue to inspire generations to come.
