Katherine Elizabeth Hughes

Katherine Elizabeth Hughes, 73 of Dumas passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Fobbs, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 o’clock to 7 o’clock in the evening on Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Kathy was born on June 26, 1950 in Gruver, TX to Raymond and Minnie (Fields) Pearson. She married Clint Hughes on January 5, 1985 in Dumas; he preceded her in death in 2023. Kathy worked at Wal-Mart in the fabric department until her retirement. She loved all animals. Kathy was especially fond of poodles, chihuahuas, and dogs in general. She also enjoyed fish tanks and birds.  She was of Christian Faith and will be missed by her family and friends. 

In addition to her husband, Clint, she was preceded in death by her parents, son: Jerry Lynn Stuart; brothers and sisters: Kay Bird, Joe Pearson, Carolyn Duby and John Pearson. 

Kathy is survived by her daughter: Vonda Hustead of Jasper, AR; son: Paul Daniel Stuart of Grady, AR; brothers: Marvin Pearson and wife Susie of Amarillo, TX, Jeff Pearson of Dumas, TX, Tommy Pearson of Dumas, TX; sister: Carla Turner of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Nikki Caudle and husband Matt, K.C. Flores and husband Abraham, Savanna Stuart, Vatisha Carney and husband Brandon, Lecia Urrutia and husband Max, Jerrilyn Hustead and Isaac Stuart.
