L. Dean Bryan

Lyle “Dean” Bryan, 88 of Sunray passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, July 16th at Sunray Baptist Church with Brother Ken Houston, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow in Lane Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Beeson-Morrison Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at Sunray Baptist Church in Sunray, TX. L. Dean Bryan was born on February 27, 1933 in Electra, Texas to Cecil and Lillian “Ethel” Bryan. He graduated from Pampa High School a year early. After graduating high school, he found the love of his life on a double date. They married on May 3, 1950. He retired from Natural Gas Company of America after 35 years. He found immense joy in family and hobbies after retirement. Rabbit showing and judging was one of the first hobbies, he started before retirement and continued into the 70s. He reached the level of National Judge with the The American Rabbit Breeders Association. He had a passion and love of the arts. He was instrumental in the Crabb Art Center. His hands-on woodworking skills and building abilities were key to the construction of the center. He served on the board for many years and as President in 1987. He received the Golden Nail Awards for Extraordinary Support to the Fine Arts in 1988 for his service to Moore County Art Association. Jewelry making was a passion he carried through to his last days still making and repairing Indian style jewelry for his family. He started making a ring for each granddaughter and continued to his greats and great-greats. One of his comments in his last days was being able to make that last great-great grandbaby a ring before he dies. His love of arts extended to music as well, hearing beautiful hymns and listening to grandchildren and great grandchildren play their instruments. He served as a deacon of the church that he loved so dearly. He never missed a chance to tell someone he loved them. Family, friends or even caring nurses knew he was a dear genuine soul that had a love for all. Dean was preceded in death by his wife Marlene, his parents Cecil and Ethel Bryan, his granddaughter, Allison Paige Keisling, his brother Gary Bryan, his sister Bobby Petty and brother-in-law Robert Douthit. Dean is survived by his daughters Vicki Bryan of Sunray, Kim and husband Larry Anderson of Sunray, Pam and husband Kenneth Keisling of Dumas, grandchildren Bryan and wife Jana Goodwin of Canute, OK, Amanda and husband Sam Stone of Sunray, Meredith Thompson of Dallas, Scott Anderson of Sunray, Shane and wife Julie Anderson of Fritch, M’liss and husband Brad Barker of Dumas, Kenna and husband Andy Zeigler of Amarillo, Pamela Dean and husband Don “Bubba” Burt of Dumas, Michael and wife Jennifer Keisling of Dumas, Kathryn and husband Dusty McWilliams of Dumas, 32 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law Gyndal Douthit of Pampa along with nieces and nephews, “Like family” Tylor and Stephanie Drinnon and a host of many dear friends. Family requests that memorial gifts be sent to Sunray Baptist Church. Family also requests if you were given a piece of jewelry made by Dean they would love for it to be worn at the service.
