Amarillo

Larry Wayne Foster, a dedicated family man, skilled professional, and proud veteran, passed away on May 28, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. Born on January 19, 1948, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Larry's life journey was marked by service, commitment, and a passion for excellence that touched all who knew him.

Larry was the son of Charles and Mary Ellen (Parr) Foster. His early adulthood was defined by his honorable service in the United States Army, where he proudly served from 1968 until 1971 including one tour in Vietnam. His time in the military demonstrated his dedication and courage, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life.

Following his military career, Larry devoted over 30 years to the Phillips Plant, working diligently as a mechanic and later retiring as the Plant Supervisor. His commitment to his work was matched by his meticulous approach to detail, whether on the job or in his personal pursuits. Larry had a particular fondness for jeeps, being an avid enthusiast who took great pride in maintaining the cleanliness and condition of his vehicles and his yard. This diligence earned him and his family a reputation so well known that the term "Fosterized" came to signify anything thoroughly cleaned and cared for.

Larry’s personal life was rich and filled with love. He was married twice; his first wife, Cathy Crane, whom he deeply loved, preceded him in death in 2016 after 47 years of marriage. On May 25, 2016, Larry married Cathy Collins, his childhood sweetheart.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Foster of the home, and his cherished daughters Angie Foster and wife Chris of Amarillo, Texas; Tisha Wootton and husband Randy of Dumas, Texas; and Traci Drake and husband Cody of Canyon, Texas. Larry was also a proud grandfather to Braden Kinikin and wife Shea, Broc Kinikin and fiancé Klaire, Nathaniel Drake, Caleb Drake and wife Tori, Abi King and husband Tanner, Hannah Edwards and husband Jaxon, Ethan Leatherman, and Jacob Leatherman. He leaves behind several great-grandchildren who will remember the warmth and care of their great-grandfather.

Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Cathy Crane, his parents Charles and Mary Ellen Foster, and his brother Mike Foster. The memories of those who came before him, alongside those who remain, form a tapestry of love and remembrance.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11 o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Northlawn Memorial Gardens with Broc Kinikin, officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 o'clock to 7 o'clock in the evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Larry lived a life marked by steadfast devotion—to his family, to his country, and to the principles of hard work and meticulous care. His legacy endures in the hearts of those who loved him and in the many lives he touched with his kindness, dedication, and gentle strength. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
