Leonel Ruiz-Melendez

Leonel Ruiz-Melendez, 64 of Cactus passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018. A Rosary will be recited at 6 o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Morrison Memorial Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Cactus with Father Cesar Gomez, officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Leonel was born on September 25, 1954 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Vicente and Josefina (Melendez) Ruiz. He had been a resident of the community for over 32 years. Leonel was united in marriage to Martha Lechuga on January 6, 1985 in Chihuahua, MX. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Leonel will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Martina Ortiz and Anna Soliz; brother: Librado Ruiz. Leonel is survived by his wife, Martha, of the home; children: Leonel Ruiz, Jr. and wife Brenda of Dallas and daughter: Perla Villalobos and husband Orvil of Amarillo; grandchildren: Fabian and Axel Ruiz both of Dallas; brothers and sisters: Humberto, Pedro, Ruben, Angel, and Jaime Ruiz and Maria Ortiz; best friend: Martin Gutierrez; and his beloved dog: Benito.
