Margaret Lee Nelson, 85 of Sunray, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:30 in the afternoon on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Sunray Church of Christ with Jonathan Zerby and Troy Albers officiating. Interment will follow at Brown Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 o’clock to 3 o’clock at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Sunray. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison

Margaret was born on November 10, 1936, in Carpenter, OK to Clell and Ella (Clifft) Wynn. She graduated from Hammon High School and later went to cosmetology school. She married Don Nelson on November 23, 1952 in Moorewood, Oklahoma. The couple moved to Sunray in 1978 where they made their home and raised their children. Margaret had a passion for painting, was an Art Center Board Member in Dumas, and has several of her paintings on display in the new Moore County Hospital. Margaret was an active member of the Sunray Church of Christ where she helped anywhere she was needed. She also loved her family deeply and had a special relationship with her great grandson, YC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Mitch, and 6 brothers and sisters.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband, Don of the home; daughter: Dana Laymance of Bakersfield, CA; grandchildren: Shane Laymance of San Francisco, CA, Cambrie Laymance of Santa Barbara, CA, Haley Nelson of Sunray, TX, and Kaylor Brandon of Amarillo, TX; great-grandson: YC Paige of Sunray, TX; brother: Bud Wynn of Houston, TX; and numerous nieces
and nephews.
