Mary Charlene Baze

Mary Charlene Baze, 83 of Dumas passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, January 12, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with President Sergio Ramirez presiding and he will be assisted by John Owens. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 o’clock to 5 o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Mary was born on November 24, 1942, in Rock Springs, WY to Charles and Mary Ellen (Baker) Shelly. On June 4, 1966, she married Charlie Baze Sr. in Phoenix, AZ; he preceded her in death in 2022. Mary worked at Wal-Mart as a customer service manager for over 20 years until her retirement.

Mary was a wonderful cook and loved to cook her children’s favorite meals for their birthdays and later when they’d come home to visit. She loved making candy and was known for always making too much of it. Her favorite holiday was Easter, and she enjoyed coloring easter eggs with her grandchildren. She was also a big collector of ornamental pigs. Mary was a loving, giving person who always put others before herself. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie; parents; brothers: Johnny and Willie Shelly.

Mary is survived by her sons: Wayne Baze and wife Teresa of Willits, CA, Charlie “Chuck” Baze, Jr. and wife Tammy of Amarillo, TX; daughter: Shannon Baze of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Melissa, Nicole, Rebecca, Tiffany, Michael, Justin, Hunter, Lauren; numerous great grandchildren; siblings: Shirley Shelly, Charles Shelly, Wayne Shelly, Arlene Boteller and Blaine Shelly; sisters-in-law: Teresa and Billie along with numerous other extended family members.
