Melba Lois Kent, 78 of Dumas, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Widener, officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 o’clock to 8 o’clock in the evening on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. Melba was born on February 14, 1943, in Pampa, TX to Arvil and Jefffie (Sietz) Johnson. She married LeeRoy Kent on September 3, 1961 in Wheeler, TX. Their love and devotion was evident to all; he preceded her in death on 1995. Melba was extremely proud of her family and would attend her grandchildren’s events. Her interest included shopping, square dancing, and taking care of her yard. Melba was a member of Bible Baptist Church and will forever be remembered and loved by her family and friends. In addition to her husband, the love of her life, LeeRoy, she was preceded in death by her parents; sons: Gary Kent and Darrell Kent; sister: Ferrell Miller; brother: Johnny Johnson. Melba is survived by her son: Terry Kent and wife Elizabeth of Dumas; grandchildren: Matthew Kent and wife Laura, Edward Holguin and wife Alyssa, James Brown, Patrick Kent, Melissa Kent, Candace Montalvo and husband Ulises, Paige Kent, and Nikitta Kent; great-grandchildren: Anthony Kent, Zooey Ward, Hailey Kent, Natalie Kent, Aubri Kent; brother: Lewis Johnson; sister: Sharon Truitt; daughter-in-law: Twila Brown; and her fur baby, Sophie. The family requests, with gratitude, memorials be made to Memorial Hospice, 224 E 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029.
