Nita Thomason, 85, of Dumas, passed away on Saturday May 9, 2020. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 oclock in the morning on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Keith Hight, pastor of Middlewell Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. Nita was born November 20, 1934 in Stratford, Tx to Walter and Christine (Sanders) Sandefur. She graduated from Stratford High School and met Ernie Thomason whom she would marry in Dumas, TX on April 1, 1966. They raised their family in Dumas where Nita worked as a cosmetologist and then at First State Bank. Nita was a very people-oriented person who enjoyed helping those who came to see her. She was very outgoing and loved to be with family. Nita was known for being a great cook. She was of the Baptist faith and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Along with her husband Ernie, she is also preceded in death by her parents, a son: Don Curry and a grandson: Casey McKay. Nita is survived by daughters; Gwenda Ramey and husband Randy, and Cherryl Lawler all of Dumas, TX; grandson: Dustin McKay and wife Shelly of Fairfield, TX; granddaughters: Jayda Jenkins and husband Michael of Stinnett, TX and Whitney Cunningham and husband Clay of Dumas. Nita is also survived by many numerous great-grandchildren and other family. The family suggests with heartfelt gratitude that memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
