Raymond "Ronnie" Tijerina

Raymond “Ronnie” Tijerina, 60, of Sunray, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Sunray Baptist Church with Ralph Mireles, Raymond’s brother-in-law, officiating. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery, Sunray. Arrangements are entrusted with Beeson-Morrison Funeral Directors.

Raymond was born in Stinton, TX on December 30, 1961, to Raymond Sr. and Antonia (Hernandez) Tijerina. He moved to Sunray and graduated from Dumas High School in 1979. He lived in Sunray raising his family and working for JBS for most of his life. Raymond was an active member of the Sunray Baptist Church. He married Elizabeth Mireles in 1990, she preceded him in 2021. Raymond was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan but enjoyed all sports. He never knew a stranger and always had a good sense of humor with one infectious laugh. One of his favorite times was cooking menudo for the family and making sure everyone had a taste. Raymond was a loving father and grandfather and friend; he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife Elizabeth, Raymond is preceded in death by his parents.

Raymond is survived by his sons: Christian Tijerina and fiancé Katie Matson of Little Elm, TX, Patrick Tijerina and fiancé Kim Soto of Sunray, TX, Mark Ward of Beaumont, TX, Ricky Ward and wife April of Dumas, TX and Robert Ward and wife Jennie of Dalhart, TX; brother: Leonardo Candelaria and wife Gloria of San Marcos, TX; sisters: Tilly Gonzales of Stinton, TX, Blanch Sepeda and husband Gavino of Plainview, TX, Yolanda Hundley and husband Dan of Amarillo, TX and Alice Trevino of Stinton, TX; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and many other numerous family and friends.

The family suggests with gratitude, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to a charity of your choice.
