Reta Hogue

July 27, 1954 — March 21, 2019

Reta Hogue, 64, long time resident of Sunray, died Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the Great Plains Nursing Home. Memorial services will be held Monday, March 25, 2019, at 11:00 oclock in the morning at Bible Baptist Church of Sunray with Pastor Seth Seale officiating. Cremation and arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Born July 27, 1954, in Coalgate, OK, Reta was a bright, beautiful, vibrant young girl. The Hogue family moved to Sunray around 1956. Reta loved baseball as a child. Despite a head injury that rendered her handicapped in 1965, Reta completed school in Sunray up to the 8th grade. Reta was then home schooled and graduated with her diploma in 1973. Reta absolutely loved to read. She always had a book by her side. Reta volunteered at the school and at the library to read story time. Reta enjoyed all literature but especially enjoyed poems. She wrote several poems and was always willing to read you one. She was proud to have her poems published. More than she loved poems, she loved chocolate. We all got the phone call to bring her M & Ms! Reta had a smile that would light up a room. She loved to socialize and sit and chat for hours. Reta was a member of the Sunray Baptist Church ands now is home where she has always dreamed of. She loved God and always rejoiced in His name. She is survived by her two sisters: Judy Garmany and husband Alden Kanagy of Sunray and Janice Stipe and husband, Ray Stipe of Sunray; three nieces: Susan Garmany and spouse, Alyce Garmany of Sunray and son Parker Garmany; Amanda Veesart and spouse Jason Veesart of Shallowater, TX, son, Nate Terry and daughter Lexi Terry and Tabatha Stipe and partner, Eric Byran, of Amarillo, son Draygon Fry and daughter Jessa Fry; an uncle, Eldon Hogue of Centrahoma, OK, an aunt, Vickie Sharp of Sunray, TX along with several cousins. Reta is preceded in death by her loving parents David and Lola Hogue and her little brother Ricky Hogue. Memorial gifts may be made to the Sunray Bible Baptist Church, P. O. Box 570, Sunray, TX 79086.
